WARWICK TOWNSHIP, PA -- On February 1st, The Rescue Local was transmitted for the reported PIC w/people
trapped at the intersection of Main Street and Twin Brook Road in "Downtown" Rothsville. Chief 210 arrived
on scene reporting a three vehicle crash at the intersection with (-)Negative entrapment and requested two
add'l BLS units to the scene for patient check ups. Engine Company 210 along with EMS assisted all patients
on scene and contorled hazards. EMS transported all patients by ground to area Hospitals. All units cleared
the Rescue assignment @ 17:54 Hours.

Three Vehicle PIC w/Reported Entrapment, Lancaster County, PA 02.01.2009
EAST DRUMORE TOWNSHIP, PA -- On February 1st, BOX Alarm 57 was transmitted to 800 Church Road for the
reported house on fire in East Drumore Township. Chief 57-2 arrived on scene reporting a 2.5 story wood
frame with fire showing from the attic area. Engine 57-4 arrived shortly after the return and deployed their 2"
line off the rear. The Wagon crew was greeted with heavy fire conditions inside the attic as command
requested two add'l tankers. Companies made quick work of the fire and Command held the assignment to
the first alarm.

Fire Showing On Arrival, Lancaster County, PA 02.01.2009
WILLIAMSTOWN, NJ -- On 2/1/09 Williamstown fire department was dispatched to Hill Terrace for a dwelling
with reported fire through the roof. 29-101 arrived with heavy fire showing with possible entrapment. Units
were requested to exit the building due to the heavy fire. One priority four patient was found on location

Fatal House Fire, Gloucester County, NJ 02.01.2009
CITY OF CHESTER, PA -- At approximately 07:20 hrs the companies were dispatched to 2710 North Forward
Street for a working building fire. Chester-11 arrived on location and reported heavy fire showing side 1 of
the structure.  Squrt 81 arrived on location and went in service with an 1 3/4 attack line. Engine 82 arrived
and pulled a second 1 3/4 and advanced it to the second floor. Tower 82 ventilated and performed primary
and secondary searches and rescued a dog from the first floor. The occupant and two firefighters were
transported to CCMC for minor injuries.  The companies went available at approximately 11:00 hrs.

Fire Showing On Arrival, Delaware County, PA 02.04.2009
HAMBURG, PA -- On February 4th, The BOX Alarm was transmitted for the reported house on fire. FD arrived
and had heavy fire and smoke showing on arrival. An aggressive attack was started when 2 FF suffered
injuries result of ceiling collapse and were transported to LVH Cedar Crest with burns. Fire extended from 19
North 4th Street to 17 and 21 North 4th Street in Hamburg.  Due to the nature and amount of fire command
also requested 2 RIT companies (85 from Spring Township and Sch Haven RIT from Sch County). No other
injuries reported but extensive damage was noted to the structures.

Two Alarm Row, Berks County, PA 02.04.2009
WEST LAMPETER TOWNSHIP, PA -- On Thursday February 5th, The street assignment was transmitted to
Willow Valley Nursing Home for the fire alarm. With-in minutes of Engine 512-2's response, Communications
advised them of a reported fire on the fifth floor of the building and filled the BOX Alarm. Crews arrived on
scene with smoke issuing from the building and a working dryer fire on the fifth floor. Crews made a quick
knock of the fire as the working fire dispatch was transmitted for add'l manpower for patient removal.
Companies worked to remove smoke from the building as patients were assisted back to their rooms. All
companies went ready in about two hours.

Dryer Fire Fills The BOX, Lancaster County, PA 02.05.2009
COMSTOCK TOWNSHIP, MI -- On February 4th, 2009 units from Comstock North FD was dispatched for a PI
Accident at the intersection of Sprinkle Rd and G Ave. E912 was first unit to respond as R/E922 was
responding from the maintenance shop on the other side of the township. 912 arrived with 2 vehicles that
were involved on the SW corner. 999(Lt.) took command and advised that a door needed to be popped. Once
the door was opened, 1 pt, was found con. and alert with a open compound ankle fracture. The pt. was
packaged and transported to the local trauma center by Pridecare Medic 6. Comstock units turned the scene
over to the Sheriffs Dept. and went into service.

PIC w/Door Pop, Kalamazoo County, MI 02.04.2009
WEST EARL TOWNSHIP, PA -- Early on Friday February 6th, BOX Alarm 35 was transmitted to 329 Pleasant
Valley Road for the reported barn on fire. Units on the first alarm BOX assignment were advised of multiple
calls of a barn well off with exposures, D/C 35 arrived moments later confirming a working fire. Companies on
the first alarm went to work and made a very quick knock of the fire and held the assignment to the Engines
and Tankers. No injuries were reported and all units went ready in about 3 hours.

Working Barn Fire, Lancaster County, PA 02.06.2009
LIVONIA, NY -- A historic Gothic Revival style barn built around 1830
was destroyed by fire on Thursday, February 5, at 8:53 p.m., at 4998
South Livonia Road. Firefighters arrived on location and found the
two-story barn fully involved. The barn's owner was working inside the
barn when the fire started, but he was able to escape safely. The barn
was used for storage of tools and equipment. Three vintage
motorcycles inside the building were also lost in the blaze. Two
vehicles parked near the barn were destroyed. Seven chickens
perished in the fire. A house on the north side of the barn sustained
some damage from the intense radiant heat. Investigators from the
Livingston County Office of Emergency Management determined the
fire was caused by a propane heater. Fire departments from
Livonia,Lakeville,Hemlock,Geneseo,Conesus,East Avon and Richmond
worked to bring the fire under control.

Barn Well Off, Livingston County, NY 02.06.2009
BROOKHAVEN, PA -- Company 52, Rescue Engine 47 and Medic 45-7 were dispatched to Brookhaven Road
and Edgmont Ave for a MVC with entrapment. They had a 2 vehicle MVA with an SUV on its side with
entrapment. The crew from Rescue 52 stabilized the vehicle and began extrication, while Engine 52 had a
precautionary line in place. Extrication was complete in under 10 minutes. The company was available in 45
minutes. Assistant Chief Charlie Leslie (52-9b) had the Edmont Ave Command.

Rollover PIC w/One Trapped, Delaware County, PA 02.06.2009
EAST VIEW, WV -- At 15:54, Company 1 (Anmoore VFD), Engine 71 (Nutter Fort VFD), and Engine 121
(Stonewood VFD) were alerted for a Structure Fire at Tom’s Taxi on Philippi Pike in East View. Engine 72 (w/6-
AC Richards) hit the street seconds later with Squad 7 (w/4-DC Haddix) not far behind. Chief 1 (E. Hardman)
and Engine 11 arrived on scene advising HC911 of a 1-story commercial auto body garage with fire and heavy
smoke visible. Chief 1 then requested a 2nd alarm bringing Engine 21 (Bridgeport VFD), Engine 131 (Summit
Park VFD), Engine 111 (Spelter VFD), and Engine 31 (Lost Creek VFD) to the scene. 72’s and E11’s crew
stretched an 1 ¾” cross lay and made entry into the structure utilizing Engine 12’s K12 saw while E72 was
ordered to supply E11 with water. An aggressive interior attack by Co. 1 and E72 brought the fire under
control within 15 minutes. Other units arriving on scene were advised to begin salvage and overhaul and
relieving other crews .BPVFD Squad 2 was then set up to fill any air bottles needing filled. LCVFD E31 was
then redirected to transfer to Co. 1 while units operated on scene. Co. 7 provided an interior attack crew,
supplied E11 with water, and assisted with salvage and overhaul. Crews went ready at around 17:15. An
excellent job was performed by all companies on scene especially the interior attack crew with saving the
structure.

Working Auto Repair Garage Fire, Harrison County, WV 02.08.2009
PARADISE TOWNSHIP, PA -- Just past 23:00HRS on Sunday night Chief 4-5 (Brubaker) advised Lancaster
County 9-1-1 of a working building fire in the 3400 block of Lincoln Highway East in Paradise Township. Truck
4-2 was dispatched on the first alarm with units from Kinzer (4-5), and Paradise (4-7). Truck 4-2 responded
with a crew of 6 three minutes after dispatch. While units from the first alarm were responding Chief 4-5
requested the second alarm.  Engine 4-2-2 and Rescue 4-2 responded as part of the second alarm
assignment. Truck 4-2 arrived and was advised to have their crew split with half of the crew going to the roof
to preform vertical ventilation, with the other half of the crew going interior to preform a search and to assist
in fire suppression. Engine 4-2-2 arrived and was told to stage on North Vintage Road and have their crew
advance a hand line to the charlie side.  Rescue 4-2 arrived and was assigned to assist the crew from Truck
4-2. Upon the arrival of Truck 6-3 (Lafayette) the two truck crews worked together to open the rest of the roof
up to use master stream operations. Crews remained on scene for several hours assisting with overhaul and
mop up. The final 4-2 units cleared the scene at around 0330. Thanks to Engine 5-2-1 (Christiana) for standing
bye in our station after they cleared the fire scene.

PIC w/Heavy Entrapment, Lancaster County, PA 02.09.2009
SALISBURY TOWNSHIP, PA --  Just before drill time, the alarm was
struck for a vehicle accident with entrapment involving a tractor
trailer. Deputy 4-2 (Wenger) arrived on location to find one vehicle
into a tractor trailer with one heavily entrapped. Rescue 4-2 (Capt.
Kevin Beiler) hit the streets with 9 volunteers, followed by a
fully-staffed Truck 4-2 (Capt. Chris Beiler).  Crews arrived and
immediately began pt. extrication and packaging.  Engine 4-2-2
(Engineer Linford Glick) followed close behind and arrived to
stretch a precautionary handline and handle fluid control. Patients
were extricated and packaged for the awaiting EMS crews.

SPRINGDALE TOWNSHIP, PA -- Just prior to 17:00 hours Allegheny County 911 alerted station 274(Springdale
Twp.),121(Cheswick),& 175(Rural Ridge) for a possible house fire with caller reporting oven on fire at 23
Galecki Dr. Upon arival 274 Chief reported heavy smoke showing from the kitchen area of a 2 story dwelling.
Fire Conditions quickly spread and began to get ahead of the units on scene at which 274 Chief asked for
station 166(Harmar) & 273(Springdale Boro) to be added to the assignment. Due to rapidly spreading fire
conditions command pulled all units from the building and requested a 3rd alarm assignment bringing
stations 273 for additional man power & 160(Frazier Twp. #2). Later on Galecki Dr Command Requested the
4th alarm assignment for man power from Stations 111(Blawnox) & 289(West Deer #2). The Fire was brought
undercontrol around aprox 00:30 hours, units continued overhaul & clean up until just prior to 02:00 hours in
which all units were cleared & back inservice. The Allegheny County Fire Marshalls Office is currently

Four Alarm House Fire, Allegheny County, PA 02.09.2009
STONEWOOD, WV -- At 17:18 hours, Company 12 (Stonewood VFD), Engine 71 (Nutter Fort VFD), and Engine 11
(Anmoore VFD) were alerted for a Structure Fire at Jan Care Ambulance on Water Street in Stonewood.
Engine 72 (w/5-DC Haddix) hit the street seconds later with Engine 71 (w/3-Capt. Nuzum) not far behind.
STVFD E122 arrived on scene and advised HC911 of a 1-story commercial garage with smoke showing and a
working fire. E72 hit the plug and hooked a line into E122 while crews from 12,7, and 1 made an aggressive
interior attack on the fire using an 1 ¾” cross lay. Command 12 then requested Truck 2 (Bridgeport VFD) to
be alerted so crews could make access to the roof. Crews made a quick knock down on the fire containing it
within 20 minutes. Crews then assisted Co. 12 with hitting hotspots and mop up and repacking their
equipment. Crews were in station by 19:15.

BUTLER TOWNSHIP, PA -- On Feburary 12th, The BOX Alarm was transmitted to 240 Germanville Road for the
reported house on fire in Butler Township. Units arrived with fire showing and requested the second alarm
be transmitted while first alarm units went to work. Through out the incident command specialed several
units to the scene to control the fire. Companies work for about 2 hours before marking the fire under
control.

Two Alarm House Fire, Schuylkill County, PA 02.12.2009
STRASBURG TOWNSHIP, PA -- Early on February 14th, The Rescue Local was transmitted to Beaver Valley Pike
for the reported PIC with people trapped. Units from Refton, Willow Street and EMS were advised by
Communications of a single vehicle crash with one still inside. Crews arrived confirming the report and
assisted EMS with patient care. All units cleared with-in one hour.

PIC w/Reported Entrapment, Lancaster County, PA 02.14.2009
RIVERDALE HEIGHTS, MD -- Around 1715 hours, just before dinner units were alerted to the 6900 block of
Beacon Place (13) for the house fire. Engine 94 with (5) responded as the fourth due Engine Company.
Engine 13 arrived on the scene at 5805 67th Avenue with fire showing from the rear. Units advanced lines
into the front door and began knocking fire. With some water supply issues, Engine 92 with (4) volunteers
were specialed to the scene. Engine 94 worked in the basement and then were re-assigned to Division two.
Engine 92 picked up 30's line and advanced a 250' into division one and hit hot spots. All units worked for
almost an hour opening up and hitting hot spots. Engine Company 9 cleared the scene around 2015 hours.

Heavy Fire Showing On Arrival, PG County, MD 02.15.2009
VIENNA TOWNSHIP, OH -- On February 15, 2009 Johnston Twp MS-291 was returning from a patient transport
to a local hospital. While en route back to there quarters on State Route 11 between State Route 82 and King
Graves Rd, a vehicle going southbound came across the median and came into MS-291's causing a violent
crash, sending both vehicle off the road. MS-291 overturned on to its driver side, the other vehicle was
approx. 100 ft away, with the engine compartment on fire and one subject trapped. The members of the
Ambulance ( FF/Medic Jessica Williamson & the author of the e-mail and husband FF/EMT John Williamson)
were both taken to St. E's Hospital Medical Center's Level 1 Trauma Center, Both were treated and released
the next early AM. It with regret the teenage female driver of the vehicle, was deceased at the scene.

Fatal EMS Involved PIC, Trumbull County, OH 02.15.2009
Two Homes Burn, Livingston County, NY 02.22.2009
CONESUS LAKE, NY -- On Sunday night, February 22, at 6:30 p.m.,
Conesus Fire Department and Livonia EMS were dispatched to a
reported tree fire at 5350 East Lake Road on Conesus Lake. A
Livingston County Sheriff's deputy arrived on location and reported
a structure fire. Due to the close proximity of the homes in area, the
fire spread to a second residence to the south. Additional
assistance was requested to the scene from Livonia and Lakeville
fire departments. Groveland, East Avon and Hemlock fire
departments were placed on stand-by during the incident. The blaze
was brought under control in about in about 45 minutes. The cause
of the fire was under investigation by officials from the Livingston
County Office of Emergency Management. There were no injuries.

EPHRATA BOROUGH, PA -- On Tuesday February 24th, BOX Alarm 15 was transmitted to 623 North State Street
for the reported house on fire in Ephrata Borough. First alarm units from Pioneer Fire Company and Ephrata
Ambulance were advised of smoke coming from the attic of the home with the occupants evacuating. Chief
15 arrived moments later confirming a working fire and ordering Engine 15-1 to deploy one 1.75" handline to
the Charlie side of the home. With Company 15 going to work, Command requested full Company 16 to the
scene for the assist. Engine 15-1's interior crew reported fire inside the attic and requested the roof be
vented as they checked for extension. With crews still working, E16-1 was ordered by command to lay in to
E15-1 and supply as need. Tower 15's crew threw multiple ladders and worked on venting the structure with
command requesting Engine 17-1 and Zone One Air to the scene for add'l manpower and the cascade. Crews
had the fire marked under control in about one hour with one patient being transported from the scene to
ECH with no other injuries being reported.

Working Attic Fire, Lancaster County, PA 02.24.2009
SEABROOK, NJ -- On Feb. 15, 2009 the Upper Deerfield fire companies were dispatched to 192 Big Oak rd. for
a dwelling. Ambulace 34-38 arrived on location with smoke showing. Minutes later Seabrook's engine 32-02
arrived with heavy smoke showing and requested a cascade unit from Rosenhayn sta. 29 and a second
ambulance from U.D. ems. sq. 34. With the heavy fire conditions all interior operations were forced to
evacuate. After about an hour heavy fire started venting through the roof. With these conditions a ladder
and tanker was requested from Centerton sta. 23 and tankers from Greenwich and Rosenhayn. The fire was
placed under control in about 3 hours.

Heavy Fire Showing, Cumberland County, NJ 02.15.2009
NORMA PITTSGROVE TOWNSHIP, NJ -- On Feb. 21, 2009 the Norma fire department and Ambulance squad
were dispatched to Middle dr. for a reported vehicle fire. Engine 24-2 arrived on location with a car fully
involved and one patient with minor burns. The crews made a quick knock of the fire. The patient was
transported by BLS 24-8 to a local hospital.

Working Vehicle Fire w/Injuries, Salem County, NJ 02.21.2009
DRUMORE TOWNSHIP, PA -- On Friday February 27th, The Water Rescue assignment was transmitted to the
area of Hennery Island on the Susquehanna River for the reported people in water after a boating accident.
Crews from multiple Departments went to work to find and recover the people from the 36 degree water.
One male victim was rescued by water rescue teams. One other male victim, succumbed to the cold water
and drowned at that time. No other injuries were reported and all crews went ready in about two hours.

Fatal Water Rescue, Lancaster County, PA 02.27.2009
WESTERNPORT, MD -- On 2/28/2009 at approximately 1100 hours, Allegany County dispatched Station 22
(Potomac Fire Company), Station 24 (Tri-Towns Fire Company)for a vehicle fire on Route 135 west of
Westernport, MD. Engine Tanker 22 responded with 8 Volunteers. Engine 24 with 4, Squad 22 with 4, and
Westernport PD were also on the scene. Dash Camera footage of Engine Tanker 22's response, Dash Camera

(Derham)during the knock on the fire. A minivan caught fire in the engine compartment area and extended
