UPPER CHICHESTER, PA -- As the snow began to fall, the calls started to come in. Just after Midnight, Rescue
Co. 40(Boothwyn) along with Medic 100C(Crozer) were dispatched to I-95 SB in the area of Market Street for
An Accident with Injuries involving a Dump Truck Snow Plow. Rescue 40, 40-6A, and 40-7A made the response
under the heavy snow conditions. The correction location of the Accident was I-95 SB between Market &
Highland. It appeared that a large dump trucks bed had gotten stuck on the bride, bending the plow down
which pushed the truck several feet off the ground. The Ambulance transported the patient to Crozer for
minor injuries. The Rescue remained on scene for two hours to assist with lighting until the truck was

Snow Plow Vs. Overpass, Delaware County, PA 03.02.2009

COMSTOCK TOWNSHIP, MI -- In the early morning hours of Sunday March 2nd, units from Comstock Twp. FD
along with initial aid from Kalamazoo Twp. Station 2 were sent to the 1900blk of Steger St. for the report of a
house fire. R/E922, E911, E923 and KTFD E812 responded to the scene. 922 arrived first and reported nothing
evident. After speaking with the homeowner it was determined that there maybe a fire in the basement.
Chief990 arrived and took command then transmitted a working basemnet fire. Crews pulled a 1.75 handline
from 922 and went to the back door where, after forcing the door, they were met with heavy smoke and high
heat conditions. Crews found the fire in the basement and made a quick knock. Ventilation was started as
was overhaul. During overhaul crews spotted what appeared to be meth lab componets in the basement and
also the first floor. Crews exited the house and command contacted the sheriffs dept. which sent officers
from KVET(Kalamazoo Valley Enforcement Team). Crews remained onscene for approx. 3 hours while officers
removed several hazardous componets of the lab. No injuries were reported and one suspect was arrested

Firemen Battle Meth Lab, Kalamazoo County, MI 03.02.2009

EPHRATA BOROUGH, PA -- On Tuesday March 3rd, around 22:00 Hours, Engine 15-1 advised Communications
of a reported CO Alarm in the 300 Block of East Fulton Street in Ephrata Borough. As Engine 15-1 went en
route to the CO Alarm, Communications advised them of a reported building on fire in the 300 Block of East
Main Street between East Fulton Street and South Maple Street in the Borough. Communications transmitted
the BOX Alarm with Engine 15-1 en route with multiple calls coming in. Engine 15-1 arrived moments later
reporting a large garage with heavy fire showing. Engine 15-1's crew deployed multiple lines and started a
defensive attack on the fire as Chief 15 took the Command. Command later requested add'l units to the
scene as heavy fire over took the garage. Companies 15, 16, 12 along with EMS from 112 worked the incident
for over one hour with one person being transported to ECH for check-up.

CATSKILL, NY -- On Tuesday March 3rd around 1830 hours Catskill Fire and Catskill Ambulance were
dispatched to a possible working building fire. Upon arrival of units heavy smoke and fire was visible.
Numerous other agencies were requested for apparatus and all available man power to the scene of the fire
by Catskill Fire Command. Due to weather conditions Town Of Catskill Ambulance command (Car 73-30)
requested a 2nd Ambulance for rehab of Firefighters.

Working Building Fire, Greene County, NY 03.03.2009

WEST EARL TOWNSHIP, PA -- On Thursday March 5th, BOX Alarm 313 was transmitted to Shirk's Repair Shop at
114 Pool Road in West Earl Township for the reported working building fire. As units from the first alarm
assignment started to respond, Chief 313-2 reported heavy smoke showing in the area and requested four
add'l Tankers to the assignment. Moments later, Chief 35 arrived reported a working building fire as first in
Companies started to arrive and work. Crews worked for about 1.5 Hours to place the blaze under control.
No injuries were reported as the building was a complete loss.

Working Repair Shop, Lancaster County, PA 03.05.2009

KALAMAZOO TOWNSHIP, MI -- In the early morning hours of Saturday March 7th, Kalamazoo Twp Station 2 was
dispatched to the 2300blk of East Main for a report of a vehicle that drove into the Olive Tree Restaurant.
E812 and R852 responded to the scene. Units arrived to find a GMC Jimmy that drove all the way into the
building. AC892 took command and reported that he had 2 unresponsive patients still inside the vehicle.
Comstock North R/E922 was requested to respond with extrication equipment. PrideCare Ambulance
responded with 3 ALS units and MSU1 which is the county medical control doctor. The patients were
extricated and transported to the local trauma center. Units were onscene for about 2 hrs.

VINELAND, NJ -- On 3/9/09 at around 7am Vineland's engine 61, rescue 1, ladder 1, and squad 6 were
dispatched to Cafe Centro on Main rd. for a commercial structure. Engine 61 arrived with heavy smoke
showing. Crews found heavy fire through out and struck the second alarm bringing engine 31, engine11,
engine 53, engine 21, ladder 2, ladder 4, FAST team 4, and Bridgeton's engine 7-01 to the scene. Ladders 1
and 2 went into service with roof operations. The fire was placed under control in about 2 and a half hours.

NORWEGIAN TOWNSHIP, PA -- On 03.09.2009, The Pottsville Fire Department was alerted to a reported house
on fire at 4 Mamies Avenue in Norwegian Township. Units arrived with a working fire in 2.5 story woodframe
single family dwelling and requested add'l units to assist as crews went to work. Crews found the bulk of the
fire in the attic and made a good stop on the fire. No injuries were reported as crews went ready in about 3

BRIDGETON, NJ -- On 3/9/09 the Bridgeton fire department was dispatched to Franklin Dr. for a dwelling
reported working. Ladder 7-05 arrived on with heavy fire showing from the rear windows. With these
conditions command requested the box struck and Hopewell and Cedarville dispatched for man power.
Ladder 7-05 went into service and vented. Crews made a aggressive interior attack. The fire was placed

NUTTER FORT, WV- At 17:48 hours, Company 7 (Nutter Fort VFD) and Harrison County EMS were alerted for a
Vehicle Accident with Injuries on Buckhannon Pike near Papa John’s Pizza in Nutter Fort. Engine 71 (w/4-AC
Richards) hit the street seconds later with Unit 76 (w/3 DC Haddix) not far behind and arrived on scene
advising HC911 of a 2 vehicle accident with 1 vehicle on top of a fire hydrant and a transformer down with 1
patient entrapped. Chief 7 (Rohrbough) then added Rescue 124 (Stonewood VFD) to the call. Co. 7
firefighters then began patient care and controlling road hazards. Upon 124’s arrival, crews stabilized the
vehicle and removed both driver’s side doors and B Post to gain access to the patient. The extrication time
was less than 10 minutes. EMS then took over patient care and R124 was released. Crews cleared the
roadway and assisted NFPD in their investigation and the towing company with all units being ready by 19:00.

One Trapped On Da' Pike, Harrison County, WV 03.15.2009

LEESPORT, PA - At approximately 12:52 PM on Sunday, March 15, the Berks County 911 Center dispatched
Leesport Fire Department, as well as the surrounding local departments, to 200 Block Main Street in
Leesport for smoke from a structure. Members of the Schuylkill Valley EMS were arriving the same time as
chief 37 to find smoke showing from a 2 1/2 story double block brick residental structure and. EMS relayed
this information to the 911 center to confirm a working fire with all occupants accounted for. Chief 37 had
command side A of the structure, and special requested 2 additional to the scene. As the first attack line
was being stretched smoke started banking down and pushing from both sides of the the dwelling and
crews started opening up. Initally multiple attack lines were deployed to the structure and Engine 37 had its
own hydrant with a 5” supply line, Interior command officer made entry with attack line while crews began to
vent the windows on the ground floor due to the high heat and heavy fire in the structure. As crews made
an agressive interior attack fire was seen advancing upwards and crews quickly made quick work of the
upward extension. Truck 12 arrived and deployed to the roof to vent the fire building. During the initial
attack Chief 37 requested Schuylkill Valley EMS for the rehab and the trailer and ems staging area would be
Side A near command. The rehab sector was set up in a parking area about 1/2 block from the scene. Red
Cross was also requested for the displaced residence and reported to pet cats also died in the blaze.

Working House Fire, Berks County, PA 03.15.2009

EAST HEMPFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA -- On Tuesday March 17th, BOX Alarm 23 was transmitted to Freightliner Of
Lancaster at 1675 Rohrerstown Road in East Hempfield Township for the reported building on fire. Chief 23
arrived moments later reporting heavy smoke showing from all sides of a large commercial structure with
multiple explosions inside. Crews went to work with a working truck inside the building. Crews also found
fire running the roof line with heavy smoke issuing as they opened it up. Crews worked for about two hours
to bring the bulk of the fire and many hidden hot spots under control as the roof proved to be difficult to
open as it was constructed with many layers of roofing materials. No injuries were reported as crews worked
into the early morning hours to completely contain the fire.

Commercial Building Fire, Lancaster County, PA 03.17.2009

WEST EARL TOWNSHIP, PA -- On Wednesday March 18th, around 19:42 Hours, The Farmersville Volunteer Fire
Company along with West Earl Volunteer Fire Company, Liberty Volunteer Fire Company and Leola
Ambulance were transmitted to BOX Alarm 35 for a reported house on fire at 231 Covered Bridge Road in
West Earl Township. Units on the first alarm assignment were advised the home owner had a stove pipe on
fire inside the house and could not get it out. Company 35(Farmersville) arrived moments later and reported
smoke showing from a 2.5 story farm house as Chief 35 took the command. As crews went to work, Fire was
found on the second floor and attic area as heavy smoke continued to pour from the home. Members from
Tower 39(Liberty Volunteers) laddered the home and started to open the roof up as the fire made its way up
through the vent hole. Interior crews made a quick knock on the fire as they opened up inside the attic.
Command requested the second alarm be transmitted as crews continued to work. All companies worked for
about 1.5 hours to control the blaze. No injuries were reported as all units when ready around 21:50 Hours.

Two Alarm House Fire, Lancaster County, PA 03.18.2009

LIVINGSTON COUNTY, NY -- On Sunday afternoon, March 22, East Avon Fire Department and Avon EMS were
dispatched to a reported barn fire at 5424 Lake Road. Fire units arrived on scene and found a barn
fully-involved in flames . An additional engine was requested to the scene from the Village of Avon F.D..
Caledonia and Lima fire departments were placed on stand-by during the incident. The cause of the blaze
was under investigation by the Livingston County Office of Emergency Management. There were no injuries.

PROVIDENCE TOWNSHIP, PA -- On Sunday March 22nd, The rescue local was transmitted on Rescue BOX 512
to the area of Miller road for the reported motorcycle crash with injuries. Company 512 along with EMS from
59 and 77 arrived on scene with one motorcycle down an embankment with one priority one patient. Crews
packaged the patient and EMS transported to Lancaster General Hospital. Companies removed the bike from
down the embankment and went ready with-in 45 minutes.

DRUMORE TOWNSHIP, PA -- On Sunday March 22nd, The rescue local was transmitted to the area of Route
272 at Silver Spring Road in Company 58's First due for the reported PIC with people trapped. Engine
Company 58, Rescue Squad 57 along with EMS from Susquehanna Valley EMS were advised by Lancaster
County Communications of a two vehicle crash with one patient trapped in a small car. Chief 58-2 arrived
moments later confirming one patient trapped with Rescue Squad 57 going to work with Engine 58-1 to free
the trapped driver. Crews displaced and removed the drivers side door so EMS could access and remove
the injured patient. Companies cleaned up and went ready with-in one hour of dispatch.

KEYSER, WV -- On 3/6/2009 around 1830 hours Engine Tanker 22 makes it's second trip to Keyser, WV for a
Working Commercial Building Fire on Armstrong St at North Main St. Mineral County dispatched Station 33,
38, 39 (RIT) and Allegany County Station 23 for the 1st Alarm.First reports advised a working fire in the
building with a report of one trapped. Units arrived on the scene with a working fire from the rear of the
building. Chief 33(Simpson) established the Armstrong St Command. Thirty minutes into the incident, Engine
141 (Elk Garden), 2nd Engine from 39 (Fountain), and Engine Tanker 22 was requested to the scene. Engine
Tanker 22 responded with 8 Volunteers and arrived on the scene 7 minutes later. Crews from 22 were given
the assignment of checking the 1st Floor for fire through a door on side Delta. The fire was located mainly in
the rear of the 2 Story Building. 22 Crew checked the first floor and found smoke conditions with no fire. The
crew then reported to the second floor through and interior stairwell. The crew worked it's way to the rear of
the building, knocking down some fire in the rear of the building and doing an extensive overhaul to that
area. Engine Tanker 22 was on the scene for approximately 2 1/2 hours before returning to service.

RAWLINGS, MD -- Engine Tanker 22 Runs another working fire, this time a 47 Box to Conda Way in Rawlings,
Maryland. On 3/15/2009 at approximately 0212 hours, Engine Tanker 22 was dispatched on the Working Fire
Assignment to Conda Way in Rawlings, MD. Engine Tanker 22 and Asst. Chief 22 B (Derham) responded with 8
Volunteers.Allegany County dispatched the intitial and the working fire assignments for a working
commercial building fire at the Rawlings Racquet Club. Chief 47 (McKenzie) arrived on the scene with fire
showing from the roof area of the building. Chief 47 established the Conda Way Command. Engine Tanker 22
was advised by command to send the crew to the command post for an assignment and the Engine Tanker
was to shuttle water from American Woodmark to the dump site on Conda Way. The 22 Crew reported to
command and was given the assignment of making some entry points in the sides of the large building.
Crews used a K-12 Saw to cut some egress locations along the side Alpha, Bravo, and Charlie. Engine
Company 25 was making cuts on side Alpha and Delta. After the intitial attack crews were running low on air,
Engine Tanker 22's crew made entry into the building. The crew made their way to the second floor of the
building and started knocking the fire down in that area. The fire spread was into the third floor and the roof
area. Quint Rescue 8's crew were on the roof for ventilation. The fire was declared under control at
approximately 0530 hours by command. An extensive overhaul operation was done on the second and third
floor of the building. Engine Tanker 22 was on the scene for approximately 3 1/2 hours before returning to

Working Building Fire, Allegany County, MD 03.15.2009

CHESTER COUNTY, PA -- Po Mar Lin Station 36 (Unionville) dispatched with Longwood MICU's 1 & 2 for a
vehicle accident with entrapment at intersection of Mill Road and Upland Road (Route 842) in East
Marlborough Township, Chester County on Wednesday afternoon. Chester reported on elderly male
confined. Chief 36 arrived to find 2 vehicle accident, small pick-up truck vs a larger truck. One patient
trapped in smaller vehicle. No injuries in second truck. An elderly 85 year old male ran a stop sign and struck
second truck front passenger side. Smaller truck rotated into larger truck and then rolled over coming to
rest in field right side up, southeast corner of intersection. Po Mar Lin rescue crew removed the roof and
driver side door and patient extricated. Patient trapped 22 minutes from time of dispatch. Patient flown to
Chester - Crozer Trauma Center by Sky Flightcare and tarrived 16:18 hours. Patient later transferred to

CITY OF CHESTER, PA -- The Chester fire department was dispatched to a bedroom fire on March 25th at
12:00at 1403 W 6th street. Squrt 81 had one 1 3/4 water line inservice while tower 82 opened up and
searched. Engine 82 was the RIT. Chester 11 (T. Capasso) placed the job under control in 15 min.

Quick Work Saves Row, Delaware County, PA 03.25.2009

HYATTSVILLE, MD -- Shortly after 1100 hours, units were alerted to the area of Kenilworth Avenue and
Carters Lane for the building fire. Engine 9 and all three Chiefs responded as the Third due Engine company.
Engine 9 arrived on the scene of a 50'x100' grocery store with smoke showing. Initial reports indicated there
was 2 people trapped inside the store. Engine 9 advanced a line into the store and started fire attack, while
two men searched for the two missing occupants. Engine 7 and additional men from 9 advanced two
additional lines inside to assist 9's crew. With the 5 closest Ladder trucks out of service, Truck work was
limited for the first 10 minutes of operations. After 15 minutes of knocking fire from the inside, fire was now
through half of the roof and an evacuation was ordered. For the next 30 minutes, 5 lines and the deck gun
operated from the outside to contain the fire. Quint 22 and Truck 1 also had Ladder pipes in operation. Squad
33 opened up most of the building for the Engine companies inside. Around 1330 Command started releasing
units. Company 9 cleared the scene at 1545 hours.

Working Grocery Store, Prince Georges County, MD 03.25.2009

KEYSER, WV -- On 3/27/2009 at approximately 0900 hours, Mineral County, WV requested Engine Tanker 22 to
fill the assignment on Limestone Road for a working trailer fire. Stations 33, 38, 23, and EMS 57 were
dispatched for the initial assignment. The upgrade brought Tanker 39 (Fountain) and Engine Tanker 22
(Potomac) to the scene for the working fire in the house trailer. Engine Tanker 22 responded with 5
volunteers and Asst. Chief 22 (Wildesen). Asst Chief 33 (Paitsel) had the Limestone Road Command. Engine
Tanker 22 arrived on the scene and split the crew with 2 Firefightes pulling exterior wall and 2 Firefighters
going inside to assist with overhaul operations inside. Crew encoutered several flare ups of fire inside the
trailer while doing overhaul. The interior floor of the trailer was compromised in the rear bedroom area
however the distance from the floor to the ground was only about 1 1/2 feet. The 22 crew assisted with
overhaul operations while the Engine Tanker supplied ET 38 with water. Crews worked on the scene for
approximately 2 hours before returning to service. Units on the scene were Engine 33-13, Truck 33, Asst
Chief 33, ET 38, Tanker 38, Air Light 38, Ambulance 38, ER 23, Tanker 39, and Engine Tanker 22.

Mobile Home Fire, Mineral County, WV 03.27.2009

BLADENSBURG, MD-- On Friday, March 27, 2009, Shortly after 1 in the morning, the volunteers were alerted
for a reported apartment fire at 5800 Annapolis Road. After arriving on scene with two engines, there was
smoke lingering in the air, but no fire at the high rise apartment building. After looking off in the distance, a
large glow could be seen, so units packed up promptly and headed off in the direction of the glow. Shortly
after the departure, E-9 and E-9B arrived to find a single family dwelling with heavy fire showing from the
Alpha Bravo quadrant. An aggressive interior attack was initiated and the fire was knocked in 10 minutes.
Units remained on scene for another hour conducting extensive overhaul.

MARTIC TOWNSHIP, PA -- Late on Friday March 27th, The Rescue Local was transmitted to the area of Route
324 for a reported roll over PIC with injuries in Martic Township. Chief 58 and the First alarm rescue
assignment were advised of one person trapped under an over turned SUV after hitting a lime Kiln. Chief 58
arrived reporting one vehicle overturned with Negative entrapment. Crews from Engine Company 58 along
with EMS from 53 & 77 assisted the priority one patient as Command placed Rescue Squad 57 in service. EMS
transported the patient to a local trauma center as all units went ready in about one hour.

WEST COCALICO TOWNSHIP, PA -- On Saturday March 28th, Chief 19 advised Lancaster County
Communications of a serious head on collision in the 500 Block of South Cocalico Road in West Cocalico
Township. As LCWC transmitted the street assignment, Chief 19 reported a two vehicle crash with multiple
injuries. Engine Company 19 along with EMS from 18, 17 and Medic 4 arrived and assisted the patients that
were involved. Crews cleared the serious crash in about 30 minutes with two patients being transported to

BETHLEHEM TOWNSHIP, PA -- Nancy Run was dispatched for a reported brush fire in the early afternoon of
March 25, 2009 at 1310 hours. Engine 1411 arrived to find a small brush fire along the side of the road with
exposures consisting of additional brush, fencing and utility lines. The crew of Engine 1411 went to work

CLAY TOWNSHIP, PA -- On Sunday March 29th, While Central PA was getting hit with strong storms with active
tornado warnings, Lancaster County Wide Communications transmitted the Technical Rescue Assignment to
the area of Middle Creek Road and Lincoln Road for the reported residential rescue with injuries. Units from
the Lincoln, Rothsville, Brunnerville, Ephrata Rescue Squad, Brickerville Volunteer fire companies along
with multiple local EMS units were advised of multiple mobile homes that had collapsed with people injured
and still missing. Rescue crews quickly arrived to find a total disaster area with multiple homes completely
leveled. Chief 16-2 took the Middle Creek Road Command and upgraded the assignment for add'l resources.
The Lancaster County Rescue Task Force was specialed on the assignment due to people being reported
missing with-in the rubble. Companies searched through the debris and recovered two animals early in the
incident. Three patients were transported with minor injuries by EMS to local hospitals as crews continued to
work. Companies worked for hours to control hazards and search for unaccounted people. Around 2050
Hours, Command reported to all units operating that all people were accounted for and crews finished up
hazard control operations. All companies went ready around 2230 hours with a total of 8 homes destroyed
and three victims with Minor injuries. NWS confirmed on March 30th this was an EF-1 tornado that touched
down in Clay Twp. The 200 Yard wide EF-1 tornado was on the ground for about 10 minutes traveling 1.5
miles with winds reaching 85-95 MPH.

INTERCOURSE, PA -- On Sunday March 29th, The Rescue local was transmitted for the reported Personal
Injury Collision with people trapped in the 4100 block of Old Philadelphia Pike (Route 340) at 7:05pm. Crews
from Intercourse, White Horse, Gap and Liberty Fire Companies worked feverishly to free the 6 subjects
trapped within the wreckage. Two pick up trucks collide on a head on with one priority four on the scene.
Additional Medics from LEMSA as well as Gordonville, Liberty and Christiana Ambulance responded. 2
helicopters were summoned and a 3rd placed on stand by. Fire Police from the area had to divert traffic for
over 3 hours while State Police investigated the incident.

CITY OF CHESTER, PA -- At 10:31 hrs the companies were dispatched to 902 Crosby Street for a shed fire.
While the companies were responding Chester Police reported a shed against the house. Chester-11 then
arrived on location and reported a building fire, heavy fire showing from the rear of the structure. Engine 82
dropped a 5" supply line and went in service with an 1 3/4" attack line. Squirt 81 pulled a 2 " blitz line to the
rear of the structure and knocked down the fire from the exterior so Engine 82's crew could advance
through the building. Tower 82 went to the roof opened up in the rear and trenched it along the party wall.

MANHEIM TOWNSHIP, PA -- On Tuesday March 31st, The Street assignment was transmitted to the area of
Route 222 North at the Oregon Pike exit for the report motorcycle crash with injuries. Units from the Eden
and West Earl Volunteer Fire Companies along with EMS from Manheim Twp. EMS were advised of a single
motorcycle crash with the rider down. Crews arrived with one motorcycle off the roadway with the rider down
in the grass. Crews went to work on the patient as other members controlled hazards from the motorcycle.
EMS 213 transported the rider of the motorcycle to a local trauma center with injuries. All companies went
